Slasher movie buff, pessimistic Spider-Man fan, and future world conqueror with a heart of gold. I like to make art and stupid edits.

Being Spider-Man entails a lot, the main big one being responsibility. Tell me, does making a deal with evil, magical dealmakers sound like a responsible thing to do?

It feels less like they're trying to give them their own distinctive look and more like each artist is trying to outdo the other.

If they aren't doing that, they just go back to the default look. It'd be nice to have some consistency, y'know?

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good idea to change the look depending on the host, I just think that they change it *too much*. Both Gargan and Flash's (hulk-out) designs have had radically different looks between artists.

I think the only time I've liked Venom with "eyes" is in Andie Tong's art for the European Spider-Man comics. Here, Venom doesn't have "eyes" per say, the Symbiote is just so tightly wrapped around Brock's face that you can see the outline of them.

Plus, giving Venom eyes loses some of the creep factor.

He's more intimidating when you *don't* know where he's looking.

I think artists, or at least some, didn't realize how silly it was to give Venom eyes *because he already had eyes.*

The Symbiote adopted them from Spider-Man and gave it a bit more flare. Putting on human sized eyes is like Peter making eyeholes on his mask.

I don't like The Hunger story and Ramos' art is always hit or miss, but anyway:

It irks me how when the Symbiote is on its own, the spider logo has really cool, skeletal legs, but when it's together with Brock it's just this small little logo on this absolute unit.

I'm not a fan when Miles Venom Blast makes him look like Electro in a Spider-Man costume.

Superior Spider-Man and All-New All-Different would've been less egregious if they had just been What If? stories. They should've been set in universes where they can be self-contained and not have to worry about the established rules and lore of 616.

In retrospective, it feels kind of unreal how prior to Spencer's (mostly) great run, there were over ten years of Spider-Man stories, writers and higher ups throwing lore, established rules and characterization out the window to tell stories that go against this great character.
