You know that I dislike MOBAs? But despite that I talked with my sister a lot of how its systems and mechanics worked, and I felt like a lot of those ideas would be cool in other genres.

Lo and behold, MOBA design has influenced everything from Titanfall to Rainbow Six: Siege.

If every person who designed games had that kind of attitude, genres wouldn't learn from each other, take ideas from one another and become better for it.

We wouldn't have modern takes on Doom, we wouldn't have new spins on roguelikes, and RPGs would be stuck on menu systems.

Gaming take:

I think one attitude in gaming that aggravates me the most is- just because a game doesn't appeal to someone specifically, it is a bad game or some other justification like that its mechanics are bad or outdated.

Drives me up the wall.

Here's the thing- during the early years, I was often mistaken for being AFAB online. I surprised many a people when we met IRL during cons.

It didn't really bother me- in fact I thought it was kind of neat and fun that I came across so androgynously.

It was actually in an RP with a friend where Penn had changed to Penny almost permanently. I won't go into details, but around 2013, Penny slowly displaced Penn as my main face.

In the early days of the fandom, it was fairly common to make a female version of your male OC, partly for humor, partly as a reflection of the majority female cast of MLP.

Female Penn was actually called "Pence" at first, because I thought "Penny" was too straightforward.
