I made an art history video recently about the history of costume history books & how bizarre & flaky so many are, if you are interested. I tried to use humor & as much accuracy as I cd, & also to recommend good strong sources.
@MsGo I recently made a video about historic costuming books. I tried to use every opportunity to show historical PoC, since the books themselves almost entirely wrote PoC out of the histories.
@lunwil Agreed! I, eh, got kind of salty about it in a video I made. I said his work "is gorgeous, in its own way, but it’s a complete fantasy, confection, not history"
