This game was already great, but they've consistently had fun and engaging community events throughout the year that kept me invested. The expansion added more of the single-player stuff I loved, too. I proudly wear my golden pin!

The Missing: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories

Please just play this game. No spoilers, but the ending is executed in a way that beautifully re-contextualizes everything to serve it's core theme. I think of this game more fondly every time I remember it.

Iconoclasts

A clever action game with a really nice aesthetic and charm. But most surprising, and what got it into my 10, is that the writing is fantastic. I was invested in the characters, and the plot moved quickly with an urgency that was welcome and unexpected.

Every detail, from the tapestries and clothing, to architecture, set a time and place for these people's lives in a way that is rarely executed so perfectly. Attention to these daily tasks makes the characters lives richer, and brings the past to life.

My Brother's Husband

This is one of the more essential reads of this year for me. It very directly addresses prejudice and homophobia on a social level, and a personal level for the characters. A truly beautiful and heartwarming piece of work.
