are you listening? by Tillie Walden
This book rushed through me, and it just barely dethroned On a Sunbeam as my favorite Tillie book. So much of this book is in the atmosphere, but when the writing needs to swoop in and give us the story it delivers fantastically
Golden Kamuy by Satoru Noda
Not the only manga i’ve read this year, but i mainlined 100+ chapters in three days so i slam dunked it in my goodreads. Bloody, lewd, funny, political, and incredibly aware of what it’s saying. The beats in this series hit you in the gut with no mercy
The Breakaways by Cathy G. Johnson
Every once in a while I’ll read a book and I know that the author CARES about kids. This book cares about every kid, not just the friendly ones, or the talented ones, or the kids who’s paths take them in one direct line. And it’s funny!
Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer
Okay, some good fucking food. I loved this, loved the voice of the main character, and so many moments still stick with me vibrantly. I love confusing sci-fi that doesn’t hold your hand, but rather makes you marvel at how much more there is to know
GOD I DESPISED THIS BOOK. DONT READ IT. I DONT WANNA WRITE THE AUTHORS NAME CAUSE I DONT WANT HER FINDING MY HATE BUT JESUS FUCK. WHAT A BAD BOOK.
The Raven Boys #1 by Maggie Stiefvater
I enjoyed this book, but it didnt -quite- hook me the way i wanted it to. Didn’t ever get around to reading the rest whoops........ (Although i will, a promise @ my coworkers)
