#OTD 1840 Edward Oxford attempted to assassinate Queen Victoria, who was riding in her carriage with Prince Albert. The couple were headed to visit the Duchess of Kent, Victoria's mother and unhurt. At trial Oxford was found insane and to be "confined in strict custody." 🎩👑
