Kale’s buffs up the body a ton and has a greenish tint. Z Broly’s is visually identical to a normal super saiyan.

It takes Goku’s outfit, flips the main two colors, and adds Vegeta’s gloves and boots.

This is because dormant abilities are copied as well, as shown by use of Piccolo’s giant form, which was last used ~20 years prior to Super.

With Potara, large expenditure of energy can cause it to de-fuse. In the anime, the final kamehameha served to train most of the fusion time, East Supreme Kai saying it left Goku and Vegeta unable to transform, and in the manga, the highly-draining super saiyan blue caused it.

If you’ve ever been in a discussion of Gogeta or Vegito, you’ve probably heard the claim that Gogeta gets the job done and Vegito doesn’t.
