BotB initially started as a re-imagining of my late teens and early 20s as if it were an anime. Yes, Shen started off as a self insert. Many characters in BotB are inspired by 1 or more people from my actual life.

Even as I fleshed things out, I kept the mid-late 2000s setting

For TSC, I really like the American aesthetic of the mid 1900s, but I wanted to avoid the social and political issues of that time period. Also, since it's an alt Earth, I can play around with things like tech and fashion w/o worrying about "they didn't have that". https://t.co/KNFtYj8HWi
