Grim dark fantasy *and* Yuri? This is exactly what I want! Well, its more like 95% grimdark and 5% Yuri, but both sides of the equation are VERY strong here with enough intriguing plot threads to keep the story going

Bloom Into You: Regarding Saeki Sayaka

As equal a masterpiece as the main BiY series, while being very much its own story. Essentially a character study of a young, yet mature for her age, lesbian as she moves past two unrequited loves to the joyful payoff of the last volume.

Pretty Boy Detective Club

I don’t know if NisiOisin could write something that *wouldn’t* make it onto my list, but still, this is very good. I love both the protagonist and each of the titular “Pretty Boys”, so I’m very excited to see where this goes.

Adachi and Shimamura

I felt unsure after the 1st vol of this - but the slowburn main relationship between our leads is what keeps me going with this series. Adachi’s POV segments especially are usually quite a ride to read

Don’t call me dirty / Don’t call me daddy

A simple but well-done 1-vol BL, about the relationship between a gay man struggling with his sexuality, and a “dirty” homeless man. Then read the sequel, which has the rarest of things for a manga - a queer romance w/ older characters!

Canis

My favourite BL debut of the year - a distinct art style combined with an intriguing story of a hat maker who falls in love with a foreigner on the run. Excited to see where this will go in the 2nd volume.
