And I’m not really using hyperbole here, because the returning of Arthur is literally used as not only the resolution of Mera’s arc, solving the anger and grief that overtook her, but also…literally used to save her life

Mera’s agency in the arc is removed. Arthur saves the day

And not just as her own badass, but her arc is established as one of grief and mourning and of rage. She doesn’t know who she is without Arthur and feels he was taken from her, and it leads to her literally becoming a fire-spitting, rage-fueled space demon…😅

Looking back I’d almost argue that the villains and heroes who returned during Blackest Night weren’t worth the heroes and villains lost in the event.

J’onn and Jade returning was great…losing Damage, Hawk, and the fridgeable-half of Firestorm wasn’t…
