@D2OJEEVES @Sonic_Hedgeblog Post, since 3D Saturn was released in 1999 in Japan, while Adventure was released in 1998.
...Even the official artbook got that wrong. :(
This would be the prototype Adventure style: originally made for SEGA Saturn Magazine

@Borman18 I kiiiinda wish that prototype would eventually get released to the public.
The most interesting part of that prototype is how they used pre-final Sonic Heroes models that were only intended for renders.
Something I've made as a birthday gift, @7Dogmin's OC Mel! Happy birthday!
Picture 1 is the finished product, picture 2 shows the first sketch and picture 3 shows a WIP version of the inking process.
@Sonicyay4 @SEGA @SEGAHARDlight I also thought "maybe it could also be that 25th Anniversary artwork of Classic Sonic?" and... yeah, it's more so from that.
@DeddoRain Since the pose is from Lost World, I'm more so guessing they desperately wanted to replicate the Sonic 3 sprite.
@Tracker_TD It released on the 3DS recently-ish. It's pretty good, though the 3DS version feels super scaled down to make it run on there.
The Chinese version also has way better cover art, if you wanna replace it with that on your Steam library.
