For #ValentinesDay2020 we think Wellington might have missed his horse Copenhagen had he been here. Copenhagen was the Duke's horse, which he most famously rode at Waterloo, where having been riding for 16+ hours he lashed out with a hoof almost hitting the duke, love runs rough.
#Onthisday 1809 the Battle of Corunna was fought by Sir John Moore's Army.
After gruelling marches through inhospitable terrain & snow, they were almost ready to embark. Outside the town they turned back against the French. Among the casualties was Sir John Moore himself.
#OnthisDay 1810 Viscount Wellington fought and won the Battle of Bussaco. It was the 1st decisive battle that included the reconstructed Portugese Army both as intergrated Brigades and a independent Division, against the devastating French invasion. 🇵🇹
