November 3, 1560: Italian Baroque painter Annibale Carracci is born in Bologna.
Annibale wasn't the only talented member of the Carracci family. His brother Agostino and cousin Lodovico were accomplished painters as well.

October 31, 1638: Dutch Golden Age painter Meindert Hobbema is born.
The artist didn't see great success in his lifetime, but by the 20th century, he was regarded as one of THE most important Dutch landscape painters.

October 23, 1885: Canadian painter Lawren Harris is born.
Harris was a member of the famous Group of Seven. He was also the founding member and first president of the Canadian Group of Painters.
In 2016, "Mountain Forms" (1926) sold at auction for a record $11.21 million. 🎨
October 15, 1836: French painter/illustrator James Tissot is born.
At the age of 19, Tissot began studying art in Paris. 30 years later, he started his "Life of Christ" series, producing some 350 watercolour illustrations for it!

Joachim Patinir's "Temptations of St. Anthony the Abbot" (1520-24) is his only definite collaboration example. He painted the exquisite landscape, and fellow Flemish artist Quentin Massys painted the figures. 🎨
October 5, 1524: Flemish painter Joachim Patinir dies.
An interesting #ArtFact about Patinir: He is considered the first Western artist to have specialized in landscape painting. His friend Albrecht Dürer called him "a good landscape painter".
