Art of Nintendo Power does absolutely have a presence on Instagram. It's reasonably neglected at the moment...but it would suddenly not be if Twitter tanks...

I'm building an exhibit I'm SUPER excited about. Been reaching out to the kids that were published in Nintendo Power as part of the Megaman Design a Robot contest.
I'm asking to redraw their entries. Some kids became illustrators... Here is Balloon Man 30 years apart. Floored.
When I talk about the varying quality of art that made it into Nintendo Power Magazine, I often refer to a particular Spy vs. Spy piece that we have that was colored in CRAYON, and yet made it to print.
Here it is!
In 2004, Nintendo had a flash site for Zelda: The Minish Cap. The background art assets for that website were hand painted in watercolor and digitized. I happened to have acquired these paintings during a larger buy of Nintendo Power art.

Happy Star Wars Day!
There's very little Star Wars art from Nintendo Power that was made specifically for the magazine. This is one of the few pieces, and one of my favorites by Dan McGowan. The original art is unavailable, but he copied it! #MayThe4thBeWithYou
@LadyDecade I'm sorry. You're wrong. It was called StarFoxes. I'm a historian.
The StarFoxes. These were drawn by a Nintendo Game Play Counselor in 1993 as an entry into an internal employee art contest.
I know what you're thinking... Falco is the best one. And yes. That is the correct opinion.
I've shown these before but I don't think I've scanned them
Sometimes when a piece of original art cannot be sourced for whatever reason, the artist's portfolio can be a life saver. These are two pieces from Dan McGowan's Nintendo Power catalog that are currently not in the archive. But we were able to find photographs of the work!
Happy Monday!
This is a redraw of Mario from Mario Golf for the Famicom Disk System. I actually haven't had the opportunity to find where this was used in Nintendo Power yet. So if anyone is feeling spunky, feel free to help!
Nintendo Power artists regularly redrew art.
Scanned this for a change in my banner. Super Metroid Nintendo Power envelope art!
