From around the same time as the Retro Funk style, there is also this "Punk" theme that is pretty cool.

Like retro funk, its also in that how to draw book and squigglepants.

I think the SpongeBob "retro funk" style is one of the most appealing merchandising styles for the series, but I have never actually seen any merchandise using it.

I feel like SpongeBob is one of the few cartoons where almost all the characters look completely normal when being viewed from the front.
