@a__potato_ A lot of artists have different ways to go about it. I personally paint with just one angled rectangular brush with some texture on it, using only one color and having low opacity and flow (20% for both).
This is painted over a silhouette so I don't need to shade shadows.

I haven't got making Star Wars art lately but I think I want to revisit an old piece and maybe give it some color. With all the new techniques I've learned in such a short amount of time, I want to see if I can correct many of the mistakes I've made.
