There's a new set of characters in NieR Reincarnation called "Abyssal" characters, and their designs kinda resemble Gestalt Nier (The Shadowlord), with a black & red texture and unfurling body.

Abyssal Fio even has lil circular wings on her shoulder, kinda like the Shadowlord.

Wait a sec, are they supposed to look angelic?

That'd fit in with the way their society looked up to them as their "Gods"/Rulers.
