I think it is one of my favorite examples of a movie and it's sequel. The two films stand on their own, but at the same time are better together. The Cat Returns is the perfect sequel, especially to me as an artist, because so much of how a creator sees themselves is their work

I still think about how mind-blowing it is that the meta-fiction for The Cat Returns is that it's the story written by the main character in Whisper of the Heart. Is there a single other example of that sort of thing in film?
