@DavidOBowles I'm a little bit suspicious of Spanish claims she was royalty. I find it too close to "Magic Indian" rationals for smart & capable Indigenous people. I'll tell Diaz's "princess" story in my endnotes, but won't outright declare such in the story itself. I have Portocarrero saying:
