There are always mythical omens before the downfall of an ancient empire, but a few "omens" the Aztec experienced were based on actual phenomenons. In 1509, a comet was observed and recorded by Aztecs. Did it have anything to do with Spaniards arriving ten years later? Umm...no.
I wrote a new blog post about the horses that the Cortes expedition brought with them. The first horses on the American continent in 10,000 years! Read "Historic Horses" here: https://t.co/4tIpkD4qDn #HorseTwitter
Morla charges the Maya. It's the first time anyone on this continent has seen a horse, let alone a human riding one, for more than 10,000 years! A partial peek at page 26, posting this weekend. #HorseHistory #webcomics

Maya warriors charge the Spaniards at the outset of the Battle of Cintla. A detail from page 23, which will be posted this weekend. #webcomics #WebcomicWednesday
The Nacom was a military head of a Maya city-state, in this case, Potonchan. I was unable to find the name of the Nacom for the Tabasco in 1519, so this series had to refer to him only by his title. He led the allied Maya forces against the Spaniards in the Battle of Cintla.
