503 years ago this week: Motecuhzoma's agent, Cuitlapitoc, is running a Mexica spy ring in the Spanish camp. He sends messengers to Tenochtitlan daily, with info and updates about these strange visitors from another world.
503 years ago TODAY: Moctehuzoma's advance man prepares for a meeting between the Mexica governor and the strangers. It will take place tomorrow. In the meantime, food is brought and hundreds of huts are built for the strangers in a grand gesture of Mexica hospitality.
Isabel Rodriguez, chief medic on Cortes' expedition, training & leading nurses that went with the soldiers. Was granted the title "Honorary Doctor," only for men at the time, allowing her to freely practice medicine. This made her the first recognized female doctor in New Spain.
