The ribbons of ink whisking around him are representative of how the Spade's corruption also binds him (it...also just filled a lot of empty background space and was aesthetically pleasing lmao so the meaning kind of came into it during the process. IT STILL COUNTS).

The background/back cover images are fun because they actually come from an old poster I drew, and they're pretty much identical save for color and orientation.

I originally sketched both covers back in October 2020. Initially, I wanted to hire somebody to design them (because it would've been neat and saved me time), but finding the right artist was proving difficult and I didn't really have the funds, so I decided to tackle it myself.
