Caricature of John Everett Millais by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, c.1851-53. Millais is portrayed using a favourite expression for the type of painting he disliked! 'Sir Sloshua' was his derogatory term for Sir Joshua Reynolds, first president of the Royal Academy.

@YorkshireMuseum It is hard to beat Captain Gilbert Heathcote for sass I think! Master of the put down lines, he thinks he has it all and knows it all, visitors have long been subject to his chat up lines and impudence!

They can't come out too often but when they do the reaction is always - wow! Yes we're talking about the Burne-Jones tapestries! Quest for the Holy Grail Tapestries - The Failure of Sir Gawaine.

I wonder if Sir Gawaine would have faired better if he had gone in search of eggs?
