The Timurid Emperor Sultan Husayn Bayqara and Turkic poet and statesman, Ali-Shir Nava'i.

Bayqara and Nava’i were not only schoolmates but also served in the same government. They both changed the course of Asian history.

They are buried together in the city of Herat.

It is important to always remember that had it not been for the "Anglo-Russian Agreement" of 1873, the regions of Sar-i-Pul, Sherberghan, Andkhoy and Maymana would have remained under the Khanate of Bukhara, and ultimately modern-day Uzbekistan today.

Nava'i wrote primarily in the Chagatai Turkic language and produced 30 works over a 30 year period during which Chagatai became respected as a prestigious literary and cultural language.

Nava'i's best-known poems are found in his four divans - totaling roughly 50,000 verses.
