Lagiacrus was once the "Lord of the Sea" in the 3rd Gen, but it became the "Lord of the Land and Sea" in the 4th Gen. So why is 4th Gen Lagiacrus more capable on land compared to the 3rd Gen one from a lore standpoint? I honestly have no idea.
With Nerscylla and Shrouded Nerscylla, it's said that the monster skin they wear likely depends on their environment and whatever monsters are found in said environment.
With its return in the 5th Gen via Iceborne, Yian Garuga gained some more noticeable changes to its design and fight.
In previous generations before the 4th Gen, Yian Kut-Ku and Yian Garuga had three toes. When they returned in the 4th Gen, both of them gained an additional toe on their foot. As of MH4, Yian Kut-Ku and Yian Garuga have four toes now.
While Tigrex's appearance changed in Iceborne, it is possible that it just flew from the Old World to the New World for some reason.
