Gintama finished. Gintama brings me so much genuine joy, it takes a group of total oddballs and builds them into one of the most tightly knit families in fiction. It’s a wholly unique series that wears its bizarre, fourth-wall shattering comedy proudly and I love it dearly.
Finished Endwalker. Arcs and concepts from hundreds of hours of careful storytelling and world-building converge into this clever balance of chaotic, high-stakes spectacle and moments of more reflective, personal contemplation. XIV’s writing is brilliant, I love this game.
The laidback main characters whose witty nonchalant attitudes get played for comic relief when, in fact, they are holding onto complicated feelings relating to their pasts as they move forward by being forcibly sucked into a found family are, as the kids say, very kino.
Finished Tales of Arise. While it does take a few missteps, the strength of the main cast and their charming chemistry with one another along with the sheer fluidity and freedom granted by the revisioned combat system propel Arise into an exciting, triumphant new series standard.
Thinking about how cool it is that these Higurashi pieces done by artist Takashi Takeuchi of Type Moon renown exist. The Tsumihoroboshi greatness being perfectly captured in the style 😩
Finished NieR: Automata. Enthralled by how much I loved it. Automata’s dissection of existentialism through the dichotomous relationship highlighted in finding/assigning meaning to the seemingly meaningless is very fascinating and a beautiful metaphor as to why games are ART
