Léon Spilliaert. He had ad an affinity he felt with writers Edgar Allan Poe and Friedrich Nietzsche.
His work characterised by dramatic perspectives and a quiet luminescence. His images of solitude align him with European modernists such as Edvard Munch and Vilhelm Hammershøi.

Martin Lewis died in obscurity in 1962; a retired art teacher who had found some success in his early career, but was largely forgotten after the Great Depression. He taught Edwards Hopper.

#LindsayAnderson. ‘The Mick Travis trilogy’: #if.... #OLuckyMan! #BritanniaHospital. Brilliant satire. I didn't need and help in having my eyes opened to the state of British society at that time, but these films certainly helped me to laugh at it and handle it's absurdities.
