By the way I'm a brown Asian & I've always been frustrated at not being able to enjoy more fantasy works with brown or darker protagonists so I'm now drawing/making my own work here of which MC is a cleric of a fictional religion.

エスメラルダは貴族家の令嬢で世俗系な思考を持っているが神や聖職者をある程度リスペクトできる子。だが気が合う異性と一緒にいると過剰接触するかも

チオマは家族一緒に南の大陸イシュマーザルから移住してきた者

For stating the facts, majority of people from S. Asia & SEA countries are brown not pale.
Like : Myanmar, Indonesia, Thai, Malaysia
There are lighter-skin and pale people too but most are usually some men while majority are women (who also use skin-lightening creams).

Tighnari is a male character, so Hoyo making him pale instead of brown like the 2 bottom works is quite a curious decision for a brown-skinned POC from SE Asia like me here.

Dislyte would have made characters with Arab and Indian names brown-skinned. Kusanali too.

White people live in Africa too, like in S. Africa, so they can be added as a few characters too even if the setting is Africa.

Black & brown people live in Europe too like in France & UK, so they can be added as few characters too even if setting is Europe-like. (Like Kaeya)

描き終えた今すぐに気づいたけれど、表情は違ってくるんだがエスメラルダがとったこの『頭を反対側へ傾ける』ポーズってまるで米の元大統領トランプのとったあの【有名なポーズ】みたいですな。

意識して似せて描いたわけじゃないのになんていう偶然。まあ、ありふれたポーズではあるんだけれども。

These anime works have diversity and representation. If only either one of Tighnari, Alhaitham or Kusanali from Sumeru could be brown or tanned as these characters then the uproar over Sumeru would be much smaller.
