Early in the morning on a lush spur trail I watched these acorn woodpeckers play, preen, and peck to their hearts content. They never stopped moving, my head spun as they flitted from snag to snag, celebrating a brand new day.
“Smoky & Oaky”

Under the ceiling of a beautiful oak tree, watching the sunset change the light, I was visited by two young ravens. With pink corners to their mouths and a curious sparkle to their eye, they showed off their new shiny plumage to me before flying off.
“Sage”

Sage didn’t even have to try and work her angles in that lovely late afternoon light. She so effortlessly posed herself and created that drop shadow from her neck that I absolutely love. So bright and full of life.
#4styles !! I stopped caring about having a single cohesive style years ago! I love this hashtag!
I had the privilege of being part of a fish and wildlife snorkel survey this summer to enumerate summer steelhead in the Skykomish River! I painted this during a work camping trip to survey the entire anadromous section north fork. It’s very hard work but sooo pretty!
#outfitaugust day 6! Pirate. I used to be soooo in to Pirates of the Caribbean when I was in middle school, I tried to put that energy in to this.

I met sage while touring the back side of Volcan Mountain. It was early evening and she was running away from me, so I readied my camera. Sure enough, just how all coyotes do, she stopped and looked back at me with calm curiosity. Perfectly posed and lit.
