Childhood Recollections #2. At 5 or 6 I climbed Mount Kosciusko. My favourite memory of this trek was not reaching the summit - it was a cold, windy & difficult climb - but discovering a wonderland of Corroboree frogs part way down at Lake Cootapatamba.
Been thinking about my childhood cat Tommy, lately. He’d patiently let me kit him out in doll’s dresses and never once questioned why he had to wear clothes and I didn’t.
Magpie Larks, also known as Peewees, can be gendered by their markings. The males have black faces with distinct white 'eyebrows', and the females have all white faces (no eyebrows). Imagining the males waggling their eyebrows in a "How you doin?" manner makes it easy to remember
