14 February 1797 – French Revolutionary Wars: Battle of Cape St.Vincent: John Jervis, (later 1st Earl of St Vincent) & Horatio Nelson (later 1st Viscount Nelson) lead the British Royal Navy to victory over a Spanish fleet in action near Gibraltar.

The Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire) (until 1921 known as the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment) was a line infantry regiment of the British Army that was in existence from 1881 to 1970.

7 February 1813 – In the action of 7 February 1813 near the Îles de Los, the frigates Aréthuse and HMS Amelia batter each other, but neither can gain the upper hand.

2 March 1484 – The College of Arms is formally incorporated by Royal Charter signed by King Richard III of England. Founded by royal charter in 1484 by King Richard III, the College is one of the few remaining official heraldic authorities in Europe.

19 Jan 1419 – Hundred Years' War: Rouen surrenders to Henry V, completing his reconquest of Normandy.

Henry V was king from 1413-22.

Henry's outstanding military successes in the Hundred Years' War against France made England one of the strongest military powers in Europe.

18 December 1793 – Surrender of the frigate La Lutine by French Royalists to Lord Samuel Hood; renamed HMS Lutine, she later becomes a famous treasure wreck.
