Obviously, the new games will have their own important stories to tell, but seeing familiar faces in new roles - as Gym Leaders, Elite Four members or even as Fallers - helps create the sense that the Pokémon world is interconnected and evolving, not just a static universe.
It's far too early to do anything other than rampantly speculate about Scarlet & Violet's story, but we'd love to see an element of series continuity. Pokémon has a wealth of great characters to use, and a repeat appearance can send even minor personalities into the stratosphere!
And in Hitmontop Saves the Day, Hitmontop… well, you can hazard a guess!
As ever, if you like what you read, you can make an author’s day by leaving a review!
