On 6 June 1650, the first issue of the newsbook 'Mercurius Politicus' reported how 600 soldiers 'on horseback' defended the '#Parliament & City from Tumults, Rebellions' by the 'roaring Boys' but the latter '[were] so lost in Ale' to be any real threat.

Sept 1649, newsbook 'A perfect diurnall' reports: 'Letter [was] intercepted going from a prisoner in the to the Lord Cottington, wherein... the hopes of that party depends upon his Majesties seeming compliance, with Lilburne & the Levelling party' 1/3.
