6/Alligators live in freshwater (slow rivers, swamps, marshes, lakes).
Current habitat isn't anywhere near the west coast, but maybe the death of humanity + climate change allowed them to broaden their horizons in the stone world. They also got bigger? (current record is 19.2 ft)

Even the anime seems to think it's "Vast Hybrid: Chimera Kraken" instead of "Vast Hybrid Chimera: Kraken" (probably given the original layout in the manga)
