The Bird Man hesitates before choosing to protect the Fire Spirit from the humans. Humans recognize him as the Phoenix. Symbol of Eternal Life. So they choose to not confront him and let them go.
The narrator was talking to the reader and telling them 10 stories.
The 1st story is the only one I’ll tell.

1 thing I wish I can improve is putting more details & patterns on clothes. I, personnally, wear mostly mono or bichromatic clothes with almost no pattern.
But I ♥ seeing very detailed pieces of clothes with lacework and such, so ~
