Since just about anything is on the table to become a Yo-kai, there is a lot more room for designs to be downright nightmarish compared to anything we'd see in Pokemon. Everything about "Bitter Batter" is unsettling to look at.

Yo-kai Watch 3 has two different Yo-kai themed around a Cat + Columbus combo: Kittylumbus & Columbakat. The later is implied to be the actual explorer's spirit. In a world where Columbus Day is rightfully fizzling out this theming is certainly... unfortunate.

Gym Leaders are an interesting set because they are VERY hit-and-miss in terms of memorability. For every game where I can recall most/all of the leaders off the top of my head (like Gen 5) there's one where I can remember absolutely nobody at all (like Gen 6).

The the last three gens I've gone with whichever starter ends up turning into a bara man, so here's hoping Gen 8 keeps up the trend. Kinda wishing Sobble goes from a wee water lad to a big burly buff.

Thing I'd still like to do some day but will probably never find a good time: A fan comic/animatic/whatever about Taisei & Yuudai from @MadelineRupert's "Sakana" having a Yo-kai Watch adventure in Tsukiji after dark and dealing with restless fishy spirits. (Doodle from 2016)

Yo-kai Watch 3 only has one version in the west, but players still have to choose between Sushi or Tempura at the beginning to determine exclusive Yo-kai. I'll probably go with Sushi when I finally get it because Silver Lining is a handsome little cutie-pie.
