@arturoviaggia Seems Jerome eventually steals the scene from earlier images of Saint Augustine (like this one from ancient Lateran episcopal palace, 6th c.). You would think his signature would turn up scribbled somewhere inside catacombs he visited, but nothing yet!

@antmoose just struck by how dramatically different William Blake made his "Ancient of Days" still with some of the "traditional" compositional elements.

@arturoviaggia looks like early Christians ultimately went with daemon image to illustrate struggle between Good and Evil.
