Why did this happen?
Due to the lineup of the magazine:
In the 2010s the magazine was stacked with hits, which makes it harder for new series to survive and stand out from the others. Compared to 2022 is waaay different.
Those new series end up being big shonen titles like Death Note, Haikyuu, Gintama etc... And the thing is that Shueisha always manage to get this big series and I believe the reason for it is due to the method they use.
Black Clover is now ranked #48 in the Top 50 series with the highest circulation number in Jump history.
Thanks for reading this thread, I hope you enjoyed it and learned a little more about manga sales 😁
With Black Clover is very interesting because after a few years of running Shueisha decided to stop the anime and make a movie, they know that with a new movie + promotion next year the series likely will get a new boost and maybe they decide to go seasonal after that.
@ThunderTheDevil No idea but remember what I said that the magazine is getting filled again and the "best" series will be promoted etc.
Competition is back and Yoza has to go against Mashle, UU and Sakamoto, 2022 will be interesting.
Osuka is back, I hope he learned from his mistakes and delivers a great series, there’s a lot of potential
