Next in the scene is Superman’s eye beams facing Doomsday. Partly they resemble a classic panel from Superman (TDoS storyline), but they also look like a panel from Superman Earth One Vol

The homage visually continues for some seconds. Even we see Doomsday punching Superman in the direction back to Earth in close to how he’s kicked by Doomsday in this sequence from the comic.

Before I finish since this is the first time we see Doomsday in the movie, I also wanted to pair it with the first time he appears in this famous comic storyline (Superman: The Man of Steel Highlighting how different they will be by the end of movie and comic!

And immediately after this one we get Doomsday being bombarded with explosions and shots very much like this panel from Superman: The Man of Steel from the DoS storyline.

There’s more Doomsday-helicopter-action references. As in the same comic, he uses a lamp post to bring one helicopter down, while in he uses the X from the LexCorp sign to do it.

Then we get to the actual creation of Doomsday in which the imagery resembles the one from Superman/Doomsday: Hunter/Prey

Even in the final fight where Superman realizes they might destroy a city a convenient portal opens up taking the fight elsewhere. Even when he almost kills (accidentally) Lisa Jennings the magical portal is right there at the last minute to take her to the hospital and save her.

It’s a hopeful story of an imaginary world, where everyone loves Superman. How can’t you love Superman. Superman wouldn’t kill anyone. Even in the comic there is a story about saving a cat out of a rooftop (not a tree but almost).

In order to show Clark (and Superman) why he’s wrong about Superman, they are going to go around talking to people on the ground. Every little story is about how these people were positively affected by Superman and love him unconditionally.

In the comic (Grounded), after Superman talks to Kara and Conner he goes as Clark into a coffee shop to write the story of why it is better if there is no Superman. In there, he meets with a huge Superman fan who is going to explain to him why he doesn’t understand Superman.
