San Diego Orcas/Killer Whales. Much like how St. Louis got a team again, the same could be done for San Diego. Named for the apex sea predator that can be both gentle and deadly.
Rocky Mountain Monsters. Can represent all states that are in the Rocky Mountains region. Named for the Yeti/Sasquatch/Abominable Snow Monster. Beasts of myth and legend. Monsters is a generic term but it fits nicely.
Midwest Mastodons. Representing all the Midwest states including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, North and South Dakota, and Michigan. Named for the mammoths known for their size, strength, and survival in cold weather. Minnesota Mastodons has a nice ring to it too.
