Arrived this afternoon: Rian Hughes’ Rayguns And Rocketships. Which really is an absolute delight. A fascinating, beguiling subject, a truly sumptuous package.

Fabulous 1961 cover for 196O’s Showcase #27 starring the Sea Devils by Russ Heath, Jack Adler & Ira Schnapp. Followed by, from 49 years later, Russ Heath’s new version of the same art, created when he was several years into his tenth decade. Which is just incredibly inspiring.

Another comic mag I’d forgotten I had: 1998’s CBG #1280, with a splendid Barry Windsor-Smith cover & interview. I can’t have seen this in almost a quarter of a century. I’m glad I had the sense to stash it away.
