Between all-nighters, addiction and health problems, Lorrain was still a very productive writer who touched at everything. His articles “Pall- Mall” are some of the most innovative analysis and critics of this period… or just funny drama.

Satirical journalist, Lorrain inevitably crashed with tons of personalities. Still famous, his duel with Proust, which one, not openly gay, was kinda iffy about being called so, even after scoring the love interest of Lorrain at that time, Léon Daudet.

Searching inspiration and conflict from every layers of society, famous for his partners (mostly sailors and wrestlers) his costumes (Paris had at that time what we can call, a drag scene, sadly nothing was recorded of it.) plus being into drugs, street fight and virtue scandals.

So! Jean Lorrain! one of the biggest writers of “end of the (19th) century” French literature: symbolist, decadent, writer of novels, theater plays, poetry, and most paid journalist of his time. Underground enthusiast. Openly gay and unapologetic about it, forgotten for this.
