The cover to Patform was inspired by these two images. I liked the logo + BG colours on that Sailor moon one, and the hair on the second one, so I colour picked them directly.
I put a drop shadow on everything to try and give it a celluloid look which I quite like still.
Spent today getting finished doing art duties on a uni project that’s been going on for the last 7 weeks.
It’s been a lot of fun. I was particularly into this last panel.
About to give a talk about making comics to a college class on zoom. With an opening slide like this, how can I fail?
I’ve talked about it before quite a bit, but I’ve held off on showing as much of issue 10 as I can.
I really want this issue to come as a huge and awesome surprise to everyone who’s been reading Kid Eastwood and sharing this journey with me by knocking all our socks off.

I’ve spent the last two years working on Kid Eastwood, a coming of age superhero comic set in an alternate Earth where Glasgow and New York fused together.
Issue 9 saw KE get punched through Queen street station’s big window by a unicorn man.
I picked up a ton of amazing books at Thoughtbubble this year, but among the absolute best of them was @Kingfridayjoe’s La Mariposa. If you’re not reading these books, you should be!
They’re absolutely brimming with fun and personality, so much so I couldn’t help but draw her!
