A queer boy's journey into Claremont's sixteen year long run on the X-Men- from Krakoa to Muir Island. Often quite concerned about the New Mutants. (He/Him).

It's tone deaf, but maybe that's the point.

For whatever their intended goals were, X-Factor will continue to struggle to meet it until they take their heads out from up in the clouds... or from under the sand.

And to start, Scott and Jean sure have some serious talking to do.

Proving the thesis of just how out of touch with the politics of mutant identity the O5 are, Bulk & Glow Worm's sighs of defeat & acceptance of death are met with a patronizing "Have hope!" from Hank.

...means X-Factor–in either of their guises–will always be at large with the most marginalized members of mutant society.

Their plan to split into teams–and use the extra bodies of Cameron, Vera, and Rusty to flesh out the group–helps protect their cover, but at what cost?

Eventually, Bobby's inability to spin a lie on the spot (his brain is VERY busy keeping him closeted for the next thirty-ish years) reveals the truth to Jean:

Across the Hudson in the irradiated state of New Jersey (the SHADE of this Weezie), two mutants without the privilege of passing face DIY-Mutant Hunters spurred into action by X-Factor's...

X-Factor wins the day, but Weezie makes clear that this win is anything other than victorious. Maybe better futures await them in X-Factor

But unlike the seemingly motiveless Silver Aged Erik, Apocalypse is at least grounded–if not fixated–in the concept of "survival of the fittest", so much so that the team's display of force against him earns his respect...

Last issue, I spent a lot (all) of the thread talking about the casual use of stigmatizing phrases like junkie–and while Simonson–to my great annoyance–doubles down on that language use, the language is used to actually...
