the thing about a live action adaptation of an anime is that it can really bring an adult complexity and nuance that would otherwise be constrained by the limited medium of animation

tidying some files and found this old (possibly oldest surviving?) thom drawing. next to recent drawing for comparison. god i am old and i have improved less in 23 years than most young artists improve in 2 years. but that's my own fault really
