Things get meta in issue 12 of ELVIRA: MISTRESS OF THE DARK. When we did these panels, I already knew about ELVIRA MEETS VINCENT PRICE, but I couldn't talk about it yet... sometimes this stuff takes a while to get going. And yes, THE SHAPE OF ELVIRA trade IS out now!

And @CaliSilvia, with her incredible gift for likeness, has recreated my father, age 20, storming across Europe in his little M8 Greyhound Armored Car. I can't express what it feels like to see my dad this way... the hero I pictured in my mind as a child.

It's based, in its way, on a true story.

My dad, Michael Avallone, (aka @EdNoonPI) was a WW2 vet and a hard boiled pulp fiction writer.

When he told me the classic bedtime story fairy tales he decided to infuse them with his actual life experiences.

My eight-page piece in this is a dream come true for me: a comic book adaptation of the bedtime stories my dad used to tell me.
