MONSTER MARCH 2023
ANTLERS (2021)
⭐️⭐️⭐️
It may not have the most consistent of tones but Scott Cooper’s bleak and unusual creature feature is still worth a look due to its stunning visuals and a terrific central performance from Keri Russell. I just wish there was more to it.
DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS (2022)
⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
Sam Raimi’s long awaited return to the genre he rejuvenated 20 years ago may boast typically amazing CGI effects but it’s the underlying emotion that makes this one of the more memorable post- ‘Endgame’ MCU entries.
FRIGHT NIGHT (1985)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
@HerschelWalker may have done his best to describe this classic slice of 80’s vampiric madness but his amazingly comprehensive summary does little to fully impress the bonkers brilliance of Tom Holland’s 1985 cult classic.
THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE (1973)
⭐️⭐️⭐️
One of more thematically explicit ghost movies of the early 1970’s, John Hough’s adaptation of Richard Matheson’s novel drops the ball in the final act but nonetheless remains a creepy and highly atmospheric tale of paranormal terror.
ETERNALS (2021)
⭐️⭐️1/2
The star studded 26th entry in the #mcu had the potential to be the next great superhero epic but #Eternals needed less CGI Kapow! and more #ChloeZhao. #GemmaChan and #BrianTyreeHenry are great though and the cast is impressively diverse.
