Toriyama's Manga Theater. So glad this finally got an English release. Following Toriyama's shorts throughout a sizeable chunk of his career really lets you into his creative process and how that was tweaked over the years.
Found out a mini series follow-up to School Live came out, and it's honestly decent? A big part of that is it being shorter and a lot more focused than the main series. Just nice single chapter epilogues for the cast.
I think what I find especially dumb/amazing about Gundam Wing is how all the mechs flop around like actual humans when they're shot.
I think the last time I saw so many small square panels used regularly throughout a comic was the Cyborg 009 manga literally from the 60s. To use it in action scenes is a bit cheesy, but it's perfect for reaction shots.
Letterer is listed as Joe Sabino, but I'm assuming that was for dialogue only, because the SFX matches Romero's art so well. I know it's more work load, but artists also doing their own SFX just makes everything feel more cohesive especially when they get creative with it.
The dialogue between Bruce and Terry this run feels more like the show, too. Just some snarky zoomer sassing his grandpa.
