@college_logos Right, Washington and Michigan are oddballs. I've always thought that Michigan likely doesn't because they've never been able to make one look different enough from a badger or skunk. DM me @UMichAthletics !
But about 2/3 of the schools in your examples do fit with this theory.
@college_logos I think this trend is happening mostly in schools whose mascot is a person of some sort. If they have no visual of it then they can offend no one with it's appearance. Example: San Diego State - I don't think we'll see Montezuma ever again.
