2010: Rock Band 3
I got super into this style of rhythm game with Guitar Hero 2, and RB3 is the peak of the genre. Pro Drums mode taught me how to play drums, and it's something I still watch and enjoy almost daily.
Runners Up: Super Mario Galaxy 2, Super Meat Boy
2011: Dark Souls
Demon's Souls changed video games in 2009, and it seemed impossible that they could follow it up with a game better in almost every way two years later. This world design is yet to be matched.
Runners up: The Binding of Isaac, Portal 2
2014: Wings of Vi
Indie action-platforming and combat at its best. Incredible boss battles, great story, fun secrets, this kind of game is my absolute favorite.
Runners up: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, P.T.
2019: Outer Wilds
This year had some absolute bangers, but I think about Outer Wilds every day. It's the #1 game I wish I could play again for the first time.
Runners up: Sekiro, Death Stranding
